Upcoming: Blazer Thrift Shop Day!

11.27.2023

Happy Monday everyone!

I hope you all had a restful break! Here’s to almost being done with this semester (and for the last newsletter of 2023 🥹) 🥂

But Green Initiative’s not closing out without our biggest event of the semester… BLAZER THRIFT! We’ve gotten over 400 items with more to be added to this collection over the next few days of tabling (see below) and are so excited for you all to come look through everything at SHOP DAY THIS FRIDAY (Dec 1)!

Before we get into these details, we have a new addition to our newsletter — officer spotlights, starting off with Alison, one half of the duo that makes the gorgeous graphics you see on our Instagram! Keep reading for some tips and recommendations she has for you 👀

Officer Spotlight: Alison Miller

Media Coordinator

Describe yourself in 3 words: down to earth 🌎️

Favorite Green Initiative memory: “I love the night before Blazer Thrift when we fold all the clothes and get ready for the event; it’s a great way to bond as an exec board!”

Fun fact: she’s left handed

Food you can’t live without: pasta 🍝

Sustainability tip: “I swapped dryer sheets for dryer balls and it has reduced the static on my clothes and are reusable”

Most used emoji: 🤨

Blazer Thrift: Donate, Volunteer, and Shop! 🛍️

Stop by the Blazer RLC (right next to the Common’s fountain) anytime between 10 am to 3 pm on Friday to either look through or shop for items (one service hour/one item donated = one item to shop!)

SHOP DAY! (still accepting donations)

Donate THIS WED/THURS!

Here’s the sign up to volunteer for tabling and Shop Day! Again, every hour you volunteer is another item you can shop for FREE on Friday :)

That’s it for now (for this year), but here’s an early happy holidays from myself and the Green Initiative leadership team 🥳 As you start planning for December, consider the following for eco-friendly winter activities and decor options, and try to be conscious of what you buy (gifts, clothes, meat, etc.)!

Let us know what you liked about this newsletter and/or what else you’d like to see by filling out this super short feedback form (thank you to the one person who has so far🫶).

Otherwise, show up this Friday at the Blazer RLC with your friends, and I hope you get through finals week alive and have a (much deserved) peaceful and warm winter break!

As always, thank you for reading!

Best,

Ashriitha
