Upcoming: Sustainability Round Table and Black Warrior Riverkeeper Service Event

Happy Monday Green Initiative!

We’re excited to be back with our latest newsletter! The fall breeze is beginning to hit campus, so I hope everyone is embracing the spooky season and indulging in all things pumpkin. We have some special events planned for this week, so be sure to read on.

Recap: Picnic on the Green  🧺 💚

Last week’s Picnic on the Green was a huge success! Thank you to everyone who joined us for an afternoon of eco-friendly creativity. We transformed plastic bags into plarn (plastic yarn), all while enjoying the sunshine, snacks, and good conversation. Not only did this project divert plastic from landfills, but it also gave us a practical and sustainable alternative to single-use bags!

Upcoming Events This Week:

We have two exciting events coming up this week! First, join us for our annual Sustainability Round Table, where all the sustainability organizations on campus come together to discuss new initiatives and collaborate on ways to make our campus greener and more sustainable. Don’t miss this chance to make an impact and have your voice heard! Our second event is a collaboration with Serve205 to volunteer with Birmingham Botanical Gardens. Find more information in the fliers below:

Come meet all the sustainability organizations and bring your thoughts and ideas!

That’s all for this week! Keep an eye out on our Instagram, and I will be back with another newsletter in two weeks.

Until next time,

Preneet and The Green Initiative Team 💚
